I want to start off by saying thank you for all the sweet words after my last post. After a little shopping and finally a full night of sleep I am feeling completely rejuvenated. This is my usual outfit, everyone knows this! But to spice it up a little bit I added some fun jewelry and a bright clutch that I picked up on a cruise a few years back! Shelly of Bruder Hill was nice enough to giveaway this bracelet to one lucky reader!  I have constantly and constantly ranted on this blog about how there needs to be more time in the day, blah blah blah. But when it really comes down to it, I need to make more time in my day for this blog. Going from posting an average of ten times a week to struggling to even fit one in is extremely extremely frustrating. Then there are times when I do set aside the time and I find myself sitting here staring at this computer screen, like now for instance. What are the right words to say to you lovely readers? Do I make it more about my personal life? Do I strictly post about my outfits? Right now I have no idea. At school blogging was made easy. I was constantly trying to look my best due to my classes and the constant outings with friends I had. And when I did look my best, it felt like a photographer was always at my fingertips. (I am extremely lucky for this, thank you Harrison) Here it is completely different. It is shocking to some people when they learn that I still am not completely unpacked from school yet. That is how busy I am. Not to mention, everyone around me is just as busy. Finding a photographer with the same schedule as mine has yet to be done. (Working out something with Kelsey though at the moment, stay tuned!!) Once I received my first email from a reader complaining about my lack of posting I thought it was time to share that yes, I am frustrated too. Trust me, the five minutes it takes for you to read this post equals about an hour on this end. I am trying my best and will continue to do as much as I can for this blog. I feel like I am neglecting my child and I promise I will replenish the love very very soon. Until I figure this all out, I highly suggest you go check out my cousin’s kickass blog. Read it, stay awhile, I swear you won’t be disappointed…

 1.) Edit your photos. This is an easy way to create a mood for your blog. You want it to be as cohesive as possible. It even creates a mood for the photoshoot with the outfit you are wearing. For example, for this shoot Kelsey wanted to go more city-like and industrial. She made the editing a bit more grungey for this exact reason. 

2.) Try backgrounds. Using different backdrops can set your photos apart from the rest, just make sure it doesn’t distract from the subject. When Harrison photographed this outfit, he knew he wanted somewhere that would make my sweater pop. The urban background of this graffiti did just that. 

3.) iPhone photos. Cell phone photos are not always bad. They should be used for fun on your blog, adds a little personality. 

4.) The details! Photograph the little things, they make a big impact! 

5.) Keep a camera close. You never know when something’s there you want to document. This photo was taken on a day-trip to Florida sometime this winter. I loved the contrast of the trees against the very blue sky. 

6.) Take advantage of vintage. Share old photos every once in awhile or even now vs. then photos. Readers love that personal touch! This is a photo of my mom during her modeling career that I posted on Instagram a while ago. What a babe! 

 So it’s true, apparently my new outfit formula is a maxi, my jean jacket, some sandals and my perfect Marc Jacobs clutch. I really don’t realize that I’m doing this until I’m sitting here uploading pictures to this blog and then think to myself, “Wow this looks exactly like my post from last week…” Oh well. In all honestly it happens all the time in real life, so why is it so frowned upon in the blogging community? Can’t we be real people too? (That’s a joke..)  I have some fun stuff in the works for the LCC this month so stay tuned! Off to catch some z’s…

 1) “Finding yourself.” It sounds so cliche but I really don’t think I was myself until I met this group of people. Every single one of them brought the best qualities out of me. Qualities that I didn’t even know I had.

2) Independence. You don’t know how strong of a person you are until you have no one around you to turn to. I made the BIGGEST mistake of never leaving my room my first semester. (I repeat BIGGEST mistake. If you are going to be venturing off to college soon do not ever make the mistake I did.) Sure I turned out okay, but I had days where I wouldn’t even get out of my bed. It really took me hitting a brick wall and waking up saying “What the hell am I doing.” After that, I like to think that I was a completely different person. Don’t get me wrong I’m still Taylor, but I needed to learn how to be okay when no one was looking.

3) Insecurities. Everyone has them, some just more than others. With a completely fresh start I learned how to get over them. Don’t ask me how, because I honestly think it just happened but I do want to tell everyone how much better you will feel after you get over them. You only have one life. You only  have one body, one mind. I guess I just realized this and started taking better care of myself.

4) Friendship. Like I said before, I don’t know where I would be without my friends that I’ve met over the past year. I know these are relationships that are going to last forever and I already know these are going to be the girls that are in my wedding (I’m such a girl, I know, people tell me this all the time) Once you move away from home and start over, so many little things don’t matter anymore. You grow up. You realize the things that really matter in life.

5) Is home really home anymore? Starting fresh in a completely new town with completely new people can really do something. It will either make you realize that the only place you belong is home, or it will make you realize the complete opposite and make you not want to come home. At first I thought that I would end up back in this little small town doing some average thing with my life. Going outside of my comfort zone has made me realize that there are so much bigger things out there. Now after being home for only four days I’m already ready to move back to Georgia. Things change, all you can do is keep an open mind.

So I’ve shared with you some really personal things about the past year. This is a type of post that I usually shy away from but thought it needed to be said. I have become a completely different person throughout this year. Some of you may have seen me morph from this blog, but you will never know how much I’ve changed unless you know me personally. I want to thank you lovely readers and this blog for always being there for me through it all. If you take anything from this post I hope it is to never underestimate yourself. Keep your head up, things get better. And always keep an open mind! Early November I was writing about how I would be in Philly by this time but look at me now! I’m writing this post about how great things have become for me. And for my friends that I’ve made this year, this one is for you. 

 So I spilled about my collaboration with Jacqueline in this post, and I am so glad to spill even more tonight. This African inspired emerald necklace was calling to stand out. For this reason, I paired it with my best basics. Nothing is more classic than a crisp white button down and jeans. To spruce it up a little bit I paired it with my Marc Jacobs sandals and my adorable magazine clutch. I love the way this look turned out and will definitely be recreating this in the future. On the other hand, tomorrow is my first double back at work and I’m not sure if I’m fearful or anxious to get back at it. It’s great for taking you away from any thoughts or concerns and puts you right into a world where all you care about is if your table gets the correct food or if your drinks are ready yet.. To those of you who have never worked in the restaurant business you would honestly never understand. It’s an entire different world on the other side (serving vs dining). As I get back into working I find myself blogging more and more from the couch rather than an inspiring spot outside of my house. Whatever works I guess!  As soon as I heard our assignment for our final in Color Theory I got so excited. We were to take a piece of nature and use it to be inspired to create something related to our major. The first thing I think of when I hear nature is the ocean. Since the ocean is so incredibly large I narrowed it down to a mahi-mahi. I chose this because it was the first fish I ever caught offshore with my father. Since I am majoring in Fashion Marketing and Merchandising and minoring in Fashion Design, I wanted to create something that connected the two. Instead of just creating a simple design that reflected the mahi-mahi, I wanted to create an entire line inspired by the movement and fluidity of the fish. I first made a moodboard of my inspirations in order to get my “creative juices” flowing. Then I designed each garment in Adobe Illustrator and then transferred them into Photoshop to color them in. I chose a color scheme directly located to the fish itself, as well as the water it can be found in. I especially love the print I chose because at first sight it reminds me of waves. Using my tablet I then drew up some sketches and graphically laid out my presentation. Once printed, I colored in the sketches with watercolor. I am so incredibly proud of the end product it turned out to be. Plus you get a little sneak peek into my work space at home! One organized mess as I like to call it. Hope you enjoyed a peek into my daily life at SCAD! 

 It’s officially summer! It’s a bittersweet feeling being back in my hometown. It’s great seeing all of my friends from high school, don’t get me wrong, but it’s like a part of me is missing being without everyone from SCAD. They truly made me, me. I’m trying to get back into the swing of things around here and getting my little tush back to work. This outfit is perfect for this small beach town and so easygoing. Throw on some heels with it and your ready to go! I stole this dress from my mom’s closet since my whole life is still  packed away from moving. I am constantly finding myself daydreaming about how I am going to be decorating my new apartment…
