It’s time to talk about one of my favorite beauty brands; Aveda!
I cover a lot of brands here on the LCC, but this one is extra special to me. Ever since my mom introduced me to makeup and hair products, Aveda was what I turned to. My mom has been going to the same wonderful hairdresser since she was in her 30’s, so once I started worrying about my looks, she took me straight to her… And we’ve both been happy there ever since! (Love you Robin!) Our hairdresser is a loyal Aveda salon and stylist, so you could probably say I’ve tried a lot of the brand’s products. Here’s what I thought.
If you haven’t heard of the brand, Aveda is an environmentally compassionate company who truly cares about what goes into their products. They actually remind me a lot of Beautycounter. Did you read my review on their products? Anyway, the founder of Aveda stated this on their website, which really spoke to me about who they are as a company, “Our mission at Aveda is to care for the world we live in, from the products we make to the ways in which we give back to the society.”
Aveda Shampure Dry Shampoo, Thickening Tonic & Brilliant Universal Styling Creme:
Let’s start with these three great hair products! I’m a dry shampoo junkie, so this Shampure Dry Shampoo was the first thing I tried. The scent is magical, as its filled with lemon verbena and lavender. The downside to this product is that it’s a true powder, not an aerosol spray like most dry shampoos. Getting over that, the powder is a very bright white, so I had a hard time blending the powder into my hair, as I have dark brunette/ombre hair. Once blended, this product really does the trick. My hair is instantly lifted and it removes any grease or residue in my hair.
Since I have already pretty thick hair, I let my mom test out Aveda’s Thickening Tonic. Her biggest critique was the price for the size of the bottle, but we all know Aveda is on the higher end of haircare. She insists that it really does help her extremely fine hair though!
Lastly, the Brilliant Universal Styling Creme… Ah, this product. Do you remember me talking about it way back when? Yes, I’ve been using it ever since then! Since I have natural beach waves, this is one of my go-to products to keep them in place. It locks in my curls, all while adding a touch of moisture and shine. Since I’m still using this regularly roughly four years later, I would highly recommend this product! The only thing I will add is that a dab will do ya with this. I only use about a dime size amount for my whole head.
Damage Remedy Split End Repair:
I wanted to talk about this product on its own. My hair has taken its fair share of beating over the years, with tons of dyeing, treatments, heat, and of course styling products. One of my goals for 2017 was to take better care of my hair and skin. This Aveda Damage Remedy Split End Repair came at just the right time! It works to bind split ends back together while still working to prevent new ones from forming.
I seriously can’t get enough of this Aveda product. Be very particular about how you apply this though. Since it is best applied onto dry hair, I recommend applying to your ends and putting your hair up in a pony. My hair tends to look clumpy at the ends when I use this, which is why I prefer to wear it up and out of the way.
Color Conserve Trio:
The last of the haircare products for this post is the Color Conserve trio. My mom and I both tried Aveda’s Color Conserve Shampoo, Conditioner, and Daily Color Protect for the past two weeks. My mom’s hair is much more color treated then mine, so she hugely benefited from the Daily Color Protect. It is a lightweight product that didn’t weigh down her fine hair. She also used it for styling since it tames flyaways and narrows down frizz. I am personally a fan of all of Aveda’s shampoos and conditioners, so I don’t think I’m the best person to ask about these. I like them! All of these products have a great grapefruit smell, which is so refreshing!
My Favorite Aveda Lip Products:
Finally, lets talk about some of Aveda’s makeup. The brand comes out with a new collection of lip products and eye products every season. I always love looking through how they interpret the season’s latest trends and colors. Pictured above is Aveda’s Sheer Mineral Lip Color, Rehydrating Lip Glaze, and Lip Shine. I really like all of Aveda’s lipsticks. They are creamy, bright, and stay in place. I’m becoming more and more of a lipgloss fan, but these are too minty tasting for my liking. If you aren’t a lipstick fan, I suggest even trying Aveda’s colorless renewing lip treatment (not pictured here.)
Clearly I’m a loyal Aveda fan! Have you tried any of their products? Which are your favorite?
