Hey everyone, it’s Emilie, here with some useful tips on how to sneak extra moisture into your everyday winter makeup routine. I used to live in Savannah (right next door to Taylor!) where the year-round humidity did incredible things for my face—and I’m not just talking about my skin—my lips were never chapped and my eyes always looked bright. I’m spending the next few months in the New York area for an internship, having to fight off the crazy cold temperatures during my morning and evening commutes. The following adjustments I’ve made to my makeup routine have helped me get back to being #SavannahSupple.
For soft, glowing skin, mix a few drops of argan oil into your morning and evening moisturizers and then apply as you normally would. Argan oil helps to plump and smooth dry skin, distribute the correct amounts of moisture to oily skin, and even heal acne, burns, and rheumatism.
For a pillowy pout, try swapping your lipsticks and glosses for a tinted balm. While most balms do a great job of moisturizing the lips, a lot of lipsticks and even lip glosses can produce drying effects, especially in the winter time. Find a product you love, wear it through the day and apply some at night too!
For eyes with a twinkle, start working an eye cream into your evening routine. Eye creams are amazing but unfortunately often purchased after dark circle damage has been done and puffiness is beyond repair. These products revitalize and nourish the delicate skin around the eyes by promoting microcirculation.
Moisture makes a world of a difference! The greatest thing about these tips is that they will prevent and reverse the signs of aging. Many people think anti-aging products and practices are only necessary for older faces—not true, people! Moisture, especially in the form of oils, balms and eye creams, keeps you looking and feeling young and flawless long term. Begin to work these simple steps in your routine. My guess is that you’ll continue using them through every season.
