Beauty Encounters, Volume 01.

As a blogger, trying new beauty products is a really fun part of the job. Bloggers also get a lot of free shit, it isn’t really a secret. I want to start this new series called Beauty Encounters to share all of the latest beauty products I’m loving. Some I buy, some I receive as PR samples, but I will always clarify if something was free to me.

So welcome to the first Beauty Encounters! None of these products were free for me. We recently had an Ulta open in our mall, so these were some items I came home with. (Other then this Mario Badescu Acne Kit which I love! Read about it here.) Coming from a small town girl, it’s really nice when stores you love come to a place near you! Before I had to order everything online… Well I still do, actually. But with beauty products it’s nice to actually have some face-to-face time, especially with pricier items. Know what I mean? Alright, let’s get down to what I thought about these three products!

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

Lately I’ve really been on the hunt for makeup products that will last all day. This setting spray is something that I had heard a lot about from other bloggers, magazines, and other online reviews. Urban Decay offers this All Nighter, along with De-Slick, and Chill. If you have really oily skin I would recommend trying the De-Slick. All in all, I couldn’t be more happy with this product. I really see a difference in my makeup and complexion at the end of the day. It comes in a 4 oz spray bottle that I’m sure will last a really long time. I spray roughly 3 sprays on my face after I completely finish applying my makeup. The only complaint I have about this product is that it doesn’t have the best smell. But, beggers can’t be choosers y’all.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting 2 In 1 Foundation & Concealer

This product for me was a little life changing. I’ve been a big fan of Clinique my entire life, my mom swears by it too. In fact, I used to religiously use the brand’s Acne Solutions foundation. I loved it, but ultimately was looking for a solution with more coverage. I’ve tried a lot of foundations in my day, but I will definitely be sticking with this one for awhile. It features a unique applicator brush that I use to put dabs all over my face, then blend with this magical foundation brush. It is also rather affordable when it comes to foundations. This product is half the cost of the foundation I’m about to talk about below.

Side note, I’m really into makeup brushes at the moment. Would anyone want to read a post just on what brushes to use when and what brands I trust?

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

I discovered this foundation about a year ago. For the past year its been all I used. I really like the lightest shade on my skin. I recently purchased the next shade up thinking ahead for summer, but found that the colors are too huge jumps from each other. This is a extremely fluid, easily blended foundation. It comes out really fast and runny. (Sorry, couldn’t think of a better way to put it.) When you use a primer with it, you hardly need any foundation because it spreads so easy over your skin. I will definitely be using this again, but probably not until my summer tan fades.

Is this a series you think you’ll enjoy? I’d love to know your thoughts and opinions! I’m already researching more products to try and share with you. Anything you’ve been loving lately?

  1. absolutely i would love to see more posts like this. so about the urban decay spray, i had a friend rave about this to me, but as someone with oily skin, i wasn’t sure why i’d want to add moisture to something i just matted and powdered. skip to having a coworker not really like hers and she gifted me the remainder, which was mostly full. SCORE! i like it, but i don’t think i’m married to it. i’m interested in this de-slick you spoke of. is the d-slick another spray option?

I definitely like this sort of post and I can’t wait to see more! I am a big fan of setting sprays, though I haven’t found the UD one to be much better than drugstore alternatives.

I find that most drugstore sprays make my makeup uneven. That might just be me though!
