I love an excuse for a party, don’t you? Today I’m sharing with you some simply party hacks that I’ve found for the Big Game and a little decorating DIY!
Everyone already knows via my rant on Twitter that my team didn’t make it to the Big Game. As bummed as I am, that’s okay because it’s still an excuse to host a get together! Since I wasn’t going for any specific team colors, I themed my party around black, white, and hints of green. Plus with how busy life gets, I hardly had time at all to plan a large party. Instead, I went for simple but impactful decorations and things to serve. Keep reading to find out my party hacks to making this easy banner and what to serve that will take you NO prep time!
Go For Simple DIY Touches In Decor.
Don’t want to invest a lot of mulah in your party decorations? That’s okay, because I don’t want to either! I ran to my local craft store and bought this craft flag banner, twine, and some scrapbooking stickers. Together they cost approximately $8. All I did was use the stickers to spell out ‘Touchdown,’ making sure that the letters were evenly placed on each flag. Next I strung them with black twine and hung them up above my table. Ta-da! A totally low-cost, effective decoration that gets across the point that you and your friends are there to celebrate the Big Game!
Keep It Simple, Stupid.
Have you ever heard that phrase? It’s one of my mom’s favorites and is honestly starting to rub off on me. I decided to let my guests bring the fun snacks and apps. (Although you better believe I suggested some recipes like these 3 sweet and savory cream puffs or my mom’s famous Sausage Dip.) Instead, I supplied the sweets. While I was toying with making all of the desserts from scratch, I simply ran out of time and started to scramble. I Love Ice Cream Cakes saved the day with their cute football-shaped cake! I Love Ice Cream Cakes showcases delicious frozen ice cream cakes for all occasions, including Feb. 5th’s big game, and is available in grocery stores in the bakery or freezer section nationwide.
Since some of the stores around me carried the brand but not this specific cake, I used their product locator to find out which store around me was carrying the Game Ball Ice Cream Cake.
Include little touches that wow your guests.
Lastly, including little touches will make a big impact on your party spread. Instead of just putting out regular straws, I opted for green striped straws that had tags saying “Touchdown!” I found these at my local craft store and just poked two holes in the back to feed them through the straws. Everyone reacted with, “OMG, how cute!”
To me, a party isn’t complete without a little favor to take home. I gave out these mini succulents in efforts to not looking so much like a crazy plant lady. Let’s be honest, I’m still a crazy plant lady. But I digress. I printed out this cute little sign saying “Please Take One,” prompting people to take a cute souvenir. You can even find fake mini succulents at your local craft store if that’s more your thing.
