Do you remember this top? I wore it with white jeans here, actually the same exact time last year. I recently re-discovered it in my wardrobe (don’t you just love when that happens?!) and wanted to style it a new way. Keep reading to hear more about my outfit and find out what has me back to blogging!
This is a lot of trends for me to put into one look, as I tend to be drawn towards more of a classic style. But I did go to fashion school after all, so I gotta flex those muscles every once in awhile! You know what I mean?
I am loving the necktie trend that’s been going on for awhile. After I dipped my toes in by wearing a classic navy bandana as an accessory, I’m back with this fun and bold printed one! I found this exact one from H&M, which still has a couple of great necktie options. Even though my mom called me a flight attendant and a random stranger told me I looked like someone who belonged on a gondola down the Grand Canal, I’m going to keep on rockin’ it!
You might have noticed that posts here on the LCC have been very few and far between. I think I’m going to write about my break in detail in another post, but I wanted to quickly state what actually brought me back here and ready to blog again. (Because lets be honest, I was forcing myself to write that one article a week the past three weeks, which is so unlike me.)
One little word, my friends. I had to make a change. Somethin’ had to give. My entire blogging “career,” I was a fly-by-the-edge-of-my-seat type of blogger. You know the ones? We shoot outfits the day before the outfit post is supposed to go up, we keep telling ourselves we will plan out a content schedule but we really never get to it, and lastly we have this grandeur idea of scheduling social media but when it actually does happen, it only happens for two-ish days. If we are being honest here, I was this way in all aspects of my life. And it needed to stop.
The only way I will be able to handle this lovely blog that I have worked so tirelessly to build up, and run my own business outside of the LCC, I am going to need to schedule ahead and PLAN. I have a ginormous dry-erase calendar in our office now, along with keeping a personal planner in my purse at all times. I plan ahead times to shoot outfits with Kelsey, and then put that time on the board so that my entire office at work knows that I may be gone for an hour or two here and there.
Another thing that has helped is that I am outsourcing the things that stress me out or makes me not want to blog. For example, I used to really harshly critique the way my hair and makeup looked. This problem was causing me to second guess and even not post entire outfits. In retrospect, these outfits were totally fine! Since then, I have decided to team up with local hair and makeup artist Andrea Bounds in order to eliminate this stress for me! I can’t tell you what a difference this has made. It might sound stupid and self-absorbed, but that one little thing was causing a ripple effect when it came to me posting outfits.
I am going to work to put a post together about how to handle a full-time job and a full-time blog, but until then if you are going through this right now all I can suggest is to figure out what has to give in order for you to complete all of the tasks at hand.
